Shabana FC ends season with 1-1 draw

Shabana Football Club ended their 2024-2025 season with a 1-1 draw against Ulinzi Stars on the final day of the FKF Premier League campaign in a match played at Gusii Stadium on Sunday.

The Glamour Boys, determined to end the season with an additional three points, started the game with intensity, with Derrick Oketch opening the scoreline in the 30th minute.

However, Ulinzi Stars equalised in the 37th minute, making it 1-1 at the end of the first half.

In the second half, both teams showed attacking intent and defensive discipline but failed to find the back of the net.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw, a fair result for the home team, who finished the campaign in fifth position with 53 points.

Speaking after the match, Shabana FC’s midfielder and goalscorer Oketch lauded the team for the overwhelming support throughout the season.

“My first season in this club has helped me to grow as a player in many ways and I am very grateful for the support from fans, staff and teammates,” he said.

Brian Bett, another player, also thanked the fans for the massive support, adding that even though they did not achieve what they wanted, the club was on the right path to winning trophies.

Shabana Head Coach Peter Okidi said the match was a tough one, but he was proud of the team’s effort.

“We have had highs and lows this season, but the support from our fans has been incredible, and so we are looking forward to coming back stronger,” Okidi added.

Hundreds of Shabana fans turned up to cheer their team in the final game of the season, with the club having been promoted to the league this season after 17 years.
