Vihiga governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo has hailed the existing partnership between the county government and Rainbow 4 Africa (R4A) UK Charity, noting that it had contributed tremendously towards improvement in maternal and neonatal health in the area.
Dr. Ottichillo was speaking in his office, when a team from the charitable organization, led by R4A-Kenya Chairperson Dr. Francis Wanyama, paid him a courtesy call, ahead of their monitoring and evaluation visit to a maternity open day in Kegondi, Sabatia constituency.
Through the collaboration, Rainbow 4 Africa has donated two ultrasound kits, which have been used during medical outreaches, enabling residents to access ultrasound services closer to their homes.
Dr. Wanyama commended the county administration for their remarkable progress in providing reproductive health services for the people.
He said their partnership will further explore training of Community Health Promoters (CHPs) to handle Antenatal Care (ANC) at the community level, aimed at strengthening maternal and neonatal health outcomes.
