Vihiga youths benefit from KCB Foundation program

Forty trainees have graduated at Nzalwa Vocational Training Centre (VTC), under the first cohort of the KCB Foundation’s 2Jiajiri program, implemented in partnership with Vihiga county.

The graduates, who specialized in courses including electrical installation, fashion and design and other technical skills, also received start-up toolkits to enable them to launch small businesses, even as they step into the world of entrepreneurship.

The 2Jiajiri initiative is a flagship youth empowerment and job creation program that equips young people with practical technical skills alongside entrepreneurship training, enabling them to become self-reliant and contribute to local economic growth.

Speaking during the ceremony, the County Director for Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Charles Avedi, lauded the KCB Foundation for its continued support in promoting access to quality vocational training.

He revealed that discussions were at an advanced stage for the final phase of the partnership, which will see more young people benefit from the program.

“We are grateful to the KCB Foundation for empowering our youth. The tools and skills given today will not only help these graduates start their own businesses, but will also create more opportunities within the community,” said Avedi.

The event was also graced by the KCB Group Human Resource Business Partner Cleophas Ambira, Luanda KCB branch Manager Mercy Alela, County TVET officers, VTC managers, trainers and community stakeholders.
