Voting was momentarily interrupted at Siakago Social Hall in Mbeere North Constituency as opposition leader Justin Muturi chased away UDA observer adorned with political party colours.
Trouble started when Muturi who is Democratic Party Leader arrived at the polling centre and found Chinga Ward, Nyeri, Rep Kiruga Thuku wearing yellow jacket and pull neck.
Detectives were forced to step in to calm the situation and restore normalcy after supporters from the opposition and UDA camps engaged in war of words.
The MCA was escorted to his car amid protests from UDA supporters with Muturi accusing the government of voter bribery.
He came back later wearing normal clothes and in defence said he had no sinister motive nor was he involved in the alleged voter bribery.
Voting resumed normally moments later at the station where UDA candidate Leonard Muthende cast his vote exuding confidence of a win.
He promised to continue with the projects initiated by his predecessor Geoffrey Ruku in the areas of bursary issuance, roads and water.
Meanwhile, Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ruku voted at his former Gitiburi Primary School in Nthawa Ward accompanied by Muthende.
He said he was confident that Muthende will win the election despite low voter turnout experienced across the Constituency.
