Zetech’s admission to ACU boosts research, global linkages & academic transformation.

Zetech University is set to record research capacity, global linkages and academic transformation boosts after being admitted to the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), a major milestone in its growth and international engagement.

The admission places the university among more than 400 institutions from over 40 Commonwealth countries, providing a powerful platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange and participation in global higher education initiatives. The ACU brings together universities committed to advancing academic excellence, research impact and innovation through partnerships and shared best practices.

The university’s vice chancellor, Prof. Njenga Munene, said the development is a strong endorsement of the institution’s steady academic progress and global outlook. He noted that ACU membership would open doors to new research opportunities, international collaborations and funding avenues that will strengthen its contribution to national and global development.

“Joining the Association of Commonwealth Universities is a significant affirmation of our academic standing and internationalization agenda. This membership enhances our ability to collaborate with leading universities across the Commonwealth, access competitive research grants and expand staff and student mobility,” said Prof. Munene.

He added that the association plays a critical role in shaping higher education policy and fostering cooperation among universities, giving Zetech an opportunity to contribute to and benefit from high-level policy dialogue and global benchmarking.

Through the network, the university will be better positioned to align its programs with international standards while responding to emerging societal and economic challenges.

Prof. Munene added that students will benefit from increased exposure to international learning opportunities, including exchange programs, scholarships, fellowships and joint research initiatives.

“The expanded global networks are also expected to enhance graduates’ competitiveness in the regional and international job markets. Our academic and non-academic staff will gain from professional development opportunities, collaborative research projects and access to global academic resources available through the ACU. This would strengthen teaching quality, research output and innovation across the institution,” said Prof. Munene.

The VC noted that the milestone builds on other achievements by the university, including growth in research output, stronger industry linkages, expansion of innovation-driven programmes and increased recruitment of international students.

“We remain committed to leveraging the ACU membership to deepen global partnerships, empower scholars and students, and deliver transformative education and research that addresses local, regional and global needs,” he said.
