Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Mutahi Kagwe, delivers his keynote address during the opening ceremony of the COMESA EU Horticulture connection event held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on 6th October 2025. The Forum is themed ‘Leveraging Digitalization to Deepen Value Chains for Sustainable and inclusive Growth.’ CS Kagwe noted that Kenya is committed to working with COMESA Members State, to harmonise standards, digitalize customs procedures and adopt mutual recognition agreements on sanitary and Phytosanitary standards. He added that Kenya must deepen partnerships with the private sectors and development partners to catalyse investments in logistics, cold chains and value addition. He noted that the horticulture sector is proof that with the right vision, policies and partnerships, agriculture can be a key driver of economic growth, innovation and global competitiveness.
