The CAS who was accompanied by Mombasa County Women Representative Aisha Mohamed reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensure that marginalized groups access opportunities that will enable them realize their full potential.
Shebesh supported the two-third gender rule to increase women representation in leadership noting that women still grapple with many hurdles to access leadership positions.
“We cannot continue to be under-represented and that is why the constitution envisages a 20 year period through the gender rule to give us greater representation,” she said.
The Mombasa Women Rep said she will step up the provision of sanitary pads to girls in public primary and secondary schools to help raise their numbers in learning institutions.
Mohamed has promised to ensure transparency in the allocation of the NGAAF bursaries to needy learners.
