Residents of Vihiga County are set to benefit from the ongoing construction of Ebunangwe Technical and Vocational College (TVC) in Emuhaya constituency at a cost of over Sh44 million.
The project, which began in June 2025, currently stands at 65 percent completion and is expected to be finalized by September 2025.
The construction is being overseen by Sigalagala National Polytechnic, which has already initiated the tendering process for the remaining works, even as contractors remain on site to ensure delivery of the project within the scheduled timeline.
Local leaders have welcomed the development, saying the TVC would in the long run spur economic growth and enhance youth empowerment in the region through access to technical training.
Speaking during an inspection tour, TVET Director Joseph Sunguti commended government for the progress made so far, noting that the institution will provide critical skills to youths within the community and beyond.
“The construction is progressing well and we are optimistic that once complete, the college will serve as a centre for skills development and economic transformation,” said Sunguti.
The establishment of the institution aligns with the Kenya Kwanza government’s broader agenda to revitalize and expand Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) across the country.
The national strategy aims to close skills gaps by increasing access to technical education, improving the quality of training and ensuring that programs are responsive to the evolving needs of industry and the overall job market.
