State-of-the-Art Hospital Set to benefit Residents of Makindu Ward

Over 8,000 residents of Ngaakaa–Twaandu in Makindu Ward are set to access advanced healthcare services following the planned construction of a state-of-the-art Level 3 hospital.

The hospital that will have a mother and child section, a fully equipped maternity wing, a laboratory, procedure rooms, a pharmacy, a records unit and an administration block is being jointly funded by World Vision Kenya and Mountain Blue Foundation.

According to the County Department of Health Services Chief Officer (CO) Dr. Harvey Mulei, the project will involve installation of solar power to provide sustainable energy to the health facility.

Dr. Mulei disclosed that the construction of the hospital will replace the existing dispensary hence easing congestion that has been witnessed at the facility whenever patients visit to seek services.

“The county government will provide the necessary staff to ease the pressure on existing health facilities,” said Dr. Mulei.

Mulei said procurement of essential medical equipment is ongoing adding that the health facility will source clean water from the Kiboko-Twaandu water project that will also benefit area residents.

Further the CO said that Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. is expected to commission the facility officially in a month’s time.
