Embu Family plea to repatriate body of kin from Tanzania

A family in Nguviu Village, Manyatta Constituency in Embu County is seeking help from well-wishers to retrieve the remains of their deceased kin who passed away in Tanzania a month ago.

The deceased, Isaac Murithi, 47, died on August 7 at a hospital in Tanzania where he was rushed after complaining of stomach upset while on a business trip.

According to his family, Murithi left behind a huge hospital bill of over Sh. 400, 000 that has been accumulating with each day as a result of mortuary charges.

His elder brother, John Mwaniki said as of last week the bill had accumulated to around Sh. 550, 000 that is beyond their reach.

He said the family has so far not been able to make any meaningful progress in raising the required amount and sought assistance from both the government and people of goodwill.

“We have only been able to raise Sh. 30, 000 that is barely enough to cater for the rising hospital bill,” he said.

He said his death had taken a toll on their elderly mother who had been overcome by grief and more so the possibility of being not able to bury the remains of his son.

Another relative, Jacinta Wanjiru lamented that burial arrangements have been thrown in disarray as mourners who have been flocking the home have given up after learning of the daunting task of bringing the body back home.
