Kasipul parliamentary seat aspirants assured of ample security

Rachuonyo South Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Denis Kieti has assured all aspirants for the Kasipul constituency by-election of maximum security during their campaign.

Kieti urged the aspirants to conduct peaceful campaigns, commencing officially on October 8, 2025

Earlier the 13 aspirants had sought assurance of their safety during their campaign from the security team.

The DCC said as a security team, they had already mapped out hotspot areas and they were ready to help in case of any problem to ensure peace prevails throughout the campaigning period

Kieti was speaking during  pre-nomination meeting held at the Kosele county council hall to examine any pitfalls on the registration forms and clarify requirements for the candidates’ registration, with a view to enabling them to familiarise themselves with the dual process.

The by-election returning officer, Rebecca Obwaku, told the aspirants their work as IEBC officials is to facilitate the exercise and ensure a level playing ground.

“We don’t support any of the candidates; manage your expectations. You contest to either win or lose,” she said.

She urged the aspirants to ensure their campaigns are within the election code of conduct.

The Kasipul constituency seat fell vacant after the former local MP Charles Ongondo Were was shot dead in Nairobi on 30th April, 2025.
