Governor Barasa drums support for President Ruto’s second term bid

Kakamega Governor, Fernandes Barasa, has reiterated that the Western Kenya is united behind President William Ruto’s re-election bid come the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations at Bomani Grounds in Mumias West Sub-county today, Governor Barasa said leaders and residents in the region have resolved to support President Ruto’s second and final term in office, explaining the region is not focused on securing the Deputy President’s position.

The Governor noted that the region’s political strategy is anchored on ensuring the President secures overwhelming support from Western Kenya in 2027, adding that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party is committed to working towards that objective.

Barasa said the region’s leadership was looking beyond the next General Elections and had set its vision on producing Kenya’s President in 2032 after President Ruto completes his constitutionally mandated two terms.

He called on leaders from the Western region to remain united and avoid political divisions that could undermine the region’s long-term aspirations.

The Governor expressed confidence that Western Kenya would marshal substantial votes for President Ruto in the 2027 polls, saying unity and strategic political planning would position the region strongly in future national leadership arrangements.

Barasa urged residents to continue supporting development initiatives being implemented by both the National and County governments, noting that collaboration among leaders remains key to advancing the region’s socio-economic transformation.
