Police recruitment in Nanyuki, Laikipia County kicked-off seamlessly, Monday, albeit registering low turnout.
Speaking to KNA, Senior Superintendent (SSP) of Police, Monica Berege, said that the number of youth that presented themselves, were low compared to the previous years.
“The turnout was not high like previous times, I don’t know if they were not aware or not, but I have noticed the number of those seeking to be enlisted in the Police service is low.
However, more than 200 have shown-up, we shall be very fair to everybody,” said the recruiting officer.
At the same time, those who turnout reported late at the Nanyuki Stadium recruitment centre.
The SSP revealed that majority of those disqualified after physical and medical examinations, were of short stature and walking gait issues.
The government is seeking to recruit 10,000 constables wishing to join the National Police Service countrywide.
The recruitment which began at 8:00 am and will end at 5pm is one of the largest exercises to be conducted in a single day compared to previous years, where the enlisting ran for several days across the country.
