Six youths qualified to join the National Police Service (NPS) in Marsabit Central sub county, Marsabit County in a rigorous exercise which local residents described as open and fair.
Those enlisted included five male and one female candidates in the recruitment that witnessed a high turnout.
The recruitment team leader, Fredrick Suter, expressed satisfaction that a big number of youth with prospects to join the NPS was a pointer to a growing sense of patriotism and readiness to render the importance service to the nation.
The exercise was conducted at the Marsabit stadium amid a rainy and misty weather condition especially in the morning part of the day.
However, he expressed concern that few showed up for the recruitment to the national youth service (NYS) with the three chances allocated for the sub county going unfilled.
Only three youth turned up and expressed their desire to join NYS but did not succeed as they could not fulfil the set conditions.
The recruitment team made effort to make the exercise all-inclusive including gender equity and ethnic balancing.
Mr Suter appealed to the youth to show up and seek recruitment to join the NYS so as to get opportunities to train in various technical fields for self-job reliance.
