More than 5,100 national identification cards and 9,000 smart driving licences remain uncollected at the Machakos Huduma Centre.
The center is also holding 550 birth certificates and 11 death certificates pending collection by owners, according to Machakos Huduma Centre Manager Susan Ndisya.
Speaking at the center, Ndisya said the majority of the documents have remained unclaimed since 2024, urging residents to collect them without further delay. She added that some of the applicants are from Kitui and Makueni counties.
“The documents are essential for accessing government services and serve as proof of identity. We appeal to all applicants from Machakos, Kitui, and Makueni to visit the Machakos Huduma Centre and collect their documents,” she said.
Ndisya revealed that between January and June this year, the center processed and issued more than 8,000 national identity cards, 4,000 smart driving licenses and 3,400 birth certificates, but regretted the high number of the documents yet to be collected.
She emphasized that national identity cards and smart driver’s licenses are critical documents required to access various government services and advised applicants to collect them.
