A day after the Council of Governors rejected Treasury’s push for a new e-procurement system, citing lack of proper consultations, Kesses Member of Parliament (MP), CPA Julius Rutto, has thrown his support behind the platform, terming it a critical tool in reducing wastage and curbing corruption.
Rutto, however, urged Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, to put in place strong mechanisms to ensure the smooth running of the platform without interference or loopholes that could slow down service delivery.
He also emphasized the importance of preparing adequately for the rollout through staff training and user sensitization.
“For this system to succeed, both staff and users must be fully equipped with the necessary skills. Proper training will guarantee efficiency and minimize disruptions,” he said.
The Legislator challenged CS Mbadi, to take firm action against any individuals who attempt to interfere with the system’s functionality and implementation.
At the same time, he commended President William Ruto, for his unwavering stand in the fight against corruption, saying graft has continued to undermine service delivery and governance in the country.
On education, Rutto advocated for bursary allocation to also cater for Form Four leavers with below-average grades, who are unable to join tertiary institutions.
He noted that such support would allow them to pursue short technical courses and in turn, empower the youth.
“No student should be left behind because of poor grades; with bursary support, they can take short technical courses and still build a future,” he said.
He further urged Kenyans to be sober when electing leaders, cautioning against voting based on euphoria.
“Let us elect local leaders, who have the public interest at heart and who can represent our issues,” he said.
The MP made the remarks while engaging residents of Assururiet Village, during the commissioning of modern classrooms at Assururiet Primary School in Kesses Constituency, Uasin Gishu County.
He described the project as a significant step toward creating a better learning environment for future generations.
