Murder suspect arrested over Kondele roundabout killing

Police have arrested a murder suspect accused of fatally stabbing a motorcycle (boda boda) rider at Kondele roundabout in Kisumu County.

The suspect, identified as Wycliffe Kipkasari Kipsaina, was arrested in the Jebrok area of Vihiga County, where he had gone into hiding after the incident.

Police said the suspect had been on the run for several days following the fatal attack that occurred on January 24, 2026.

Kondele Police Station Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Daniel Ogechi confirmed the arrest, noting that detectives tracked the suspect through intelligence-led operations.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident stemmed from a minor traffic confrontation along the Kondele–Kibos road.

A Probox vehicle, registration number KCX 622Y, reportedly slowed down at a zebra crossing, prompting the motorcycle rider to collide with it from behind.

Police say the collision angered the driver, who made a U-turn, parked by the roadside and chased after the rider.

The suspect is alleged to have stabbed the rider during the confrontation.

The victim, popularly known as Junior, died at the scene.

The suspect is currently being held in police custody as investigations continue.

Detectives are conducting forensic analysis and pursuing efforts to recover the murder weapon.
