Public health facilities in Kajiado County are set to receive drugs and medical supplies worth Sh74 million following the flagging off of the consignment for distribution to 110 health facilities by the governor.
The supplies are expected to boost primary healthcare services and enhance access to essential medicines across the county.
Kajiado Governor, Joseph Ole Lenku, who presided over the flagging-off ceremony at the County Government Office headquarters, said the consignment will ensure that health facilities are well-stocked, preventing patients from being turned away due to shortages.
Lenku reaffirmed his commitment to providing quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare to Kajiado residents, linking the distribution of medical supplies to the ongoing Liveable Towns Project, which seeks to improve infrastructure, healthcare, water provision, and roads across the county.
“It is within our plan as the County Government to ensure that all our medical facilities are not only accessible but also fully equipped to adequately serve the community,” said Governor Lenku.
He further assured residents of a steady supply of medicines, supported by the 70 percent redemption rate from Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), which customizes medical supplies to the needs of county health facilities.
The Governor noted that towards the end of 2025, doctors, clinical officers, and nurses were deployed to facilities across the county to ease the workload of existing staff and improve service delivery as part of efforts to strengthen the healthcare system.
Residents were also urged to register under the Social Health Authority (SHA), which guarantees access to a variety of quality healthcare services in public facilities.
Research shows that by July 2025, 39 percent of Kajiado residents were registered under SHA, ranking the county 23rd nationwide.
