The final topographic inspection of the proposed Kipchamba Stadium has been successfully conducted by officials from China Roads and Bridge Construction (CRBC), accompanied by County Government officials led by Ag. Chief Officer for Youth and Sports, Dr. Nelson Tore.
Following the inspection and survey, the County Government of Bomet now inches closer to having a new 10,000 seater stadium which is set to cost the Government Sh950 Million, at Kipranye Grounds, Nyangores Ward.
The inspection marks the completion of all key preliminary technical assessments, paving the way for the commencement of actual construction works.
With the preparatory phase now complete, the contractor is set to mobilise immediately as construction of the landmark stadium officially gets underway.
Also present were engineers and architects from the Ministry of Defence who are the overall overseers of the project and environmental assessors.
Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok, the State Department of Defense Principal Secretary Dr Patrick Mariru and the State Department of Sports Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi did the groundbreaking for the project earlier on.
Governor Barchok intimated that the ultra-modern stadium would consist of a CAF-standard football pitch and a tartan-laced athletic track.
The available extra land around the stadium will be fenced and secured for the future construction of an indoor volleyball and basketball arena and a warming-up running track.
Setting up of the new stadium in Bomet is poised to be turning point in sports and talent development in Bomet, apart from helping boost the economic fortunes of Bomet Town, besides creating employment and generating revenues, according to governor Barchok.
