More than 1,500 residents of Ruiru Constituency accessed government and health services during the Huduma Mashinani outreach programme held at Ruiru Huduma Centre, in an initiative aimed at bringing essential services closer to citizens.
The one-day exercise brought together several government agencies, allowing residents to access multiple services under one roof without travelling to different offices.
Among the services offered were national identity card registration, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) services, Social Health Authority (SHA) registration, National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) services, eCitizen support, birth certificate applications, police services and voter registration.

Residents also benefited from free medical services, including eye screening, blood pressure checks and dental examinations.
Speaking during the exercise, Ruiru Member of Parliament Simon King’ara said the outreach was part of efforts to decentralize government services and ensure residents access essential services conveniently and efficiently.
“The objective of Huduma Mashinani is to take government services closer to the people so that residents can access them quickly, conveniently and at minimal cost. We are pleased with the turnout because it demonstrates the need for such outreach programmes within our communities,” said King’ara.
The legislator said more than 1,500 people were served during the exercise, describing the programme as a demonstration of government commitment towards improving service delivery through collaboration among public institutions.
He encouraged residents, especially young people eligible for national identity cards and those who have not registered with the Social Health Authority, to take advantage of similar initiatives to access services without delays.
King’ara commended the participating government agencies for working together to provide integrated services, saying the partnership had reduced the time and costs residents incur while seeking services from different offices.
Residents who attended the outreach welcomed the initiative, saying it enabled them to obtain several government services at one location, saving transport expenses and time.
The Huduma Mashinani programme is part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance access to public services by taking multi-agency services closer to citizens through coordinated outreach programmes.
