Ijara parliamentary aspirant Bashir Beynah Maktal on Wednesday visited Sangailu Division in Hulugho Sub-County, Garissa County, where he received a warm welcome from residents as he intensified his grassroots campaigns ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Beynah, who is seeking to contest the Ijara parliamentary seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, said he was humbled by the large turnout and messages of encouragement from residents since declaring his interest in the seat.
He said the reception demonstrated that his campaign message was gaining acceptance at the grassroots and that residents were keen to see their concerns addressed.
During the visit, residents highlighted several challenges affecting the area, including inadequate water infrastructure, the need for more dams, poor roads and vaccination of livestock, among other concerns.
Beynah said the issues raised by residents would form part of his engagements with relevant authorities and development stakeholders.
He said his visit was a reminder that leadership should remain connected to the people and their day-to-day challenges rather than being confined to Nairobi.
“The campaign is about visibility, unity, development, dignity and a better future for every resident of Ijara Constituency,” said Beynah.
The aspirant said his entourage would continue traversing the constituency, including Sangailu, Hulugho, Masalani and Ijara town, to listen to residents and understand their priorities.
He said the team was documenting challenges raised by communities and would present them to relevant authorities for possible intervention.
Beynah said that if elected, he would prioritise engaging residents, listening to their concerns and ensuring that development and services reach communities across the constituency.
He promised residents of Sangailu that he would work to address the issues they had raised and said the reception had strengthened his resolve to continue with his campaign.
“Your voices will remain at the heart of our mission,” he said.
