The Uasin Gishu County Government has opened applications for allocation of market spaces in five markets across the county as it seeks to provide traders with opportunities to conduct organised businesses.
The Department of Trade, Investment, Industrialization, Tourism, Cooperatives, and Enterprise Development said stall spaces are available at 64 Iconic Market, Kapseret, Ainabkoi, Kesses, and Matharu ESP markets.
In a public notice dated August 31, 2026, the county government invited interested and eligible traders to apply for allocation of the spaces for purposes of conducting organised business within the respective markets.
Applicants must be legally eligible to operate a business within the market and comply with all applicable market rules, regulations and by-laws.
The application process is being conducted online through a designated Google Forms link or physically at ward administrators’ offices.
Applicants submitting their applications online are required to download and print the completed forms from their email addresses, attach the necessary documents and submit them to the Directorate of Trade at KVDA House offices.
The deadline for submission is Monday, September 14, 2026, at 5pm.
The county government said allocation of the market spaces would be undertaken in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures governing the county.
It cautioned applicants that submitting an application does not guarantee allocation of a market space.
“Successful applicants will be notified by publishing their names at the market noticeboard,” the notice states.
The move is expected to create additional opportunities for traders to operate in designated and regulated spaces while strengthening management of markets across the county.
The county has urged interested traders to ensure that their applications are complete and submitted before the deadline.
