The Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening digital learning in schools as the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) Phase II rollout continued in Kiambu County, with 16 schools in Kiambu Sub-County receiving digital learning equipment.
The distribution exercise, presided over by ICT Authority Kiambu officer in charge Patrick Mbatia, involved the delivery and installation of digital learning equipment to the beneficiary schools.
The equipment included a 65-inch interactive panel and a laptop for a teacher in each of the 16 schools, with the exercise also involving the mounting and installation of pending software to ensure the equipment is fully operational.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the beneficiary schools, Kiambu County Director of Education Simon Wanjohi welcomed the initiative, saying the programme would support schools in integrating technology into teaching and learning.
Wanjohi said the provision of digital equipment would enhance access to technology among learners and teachers while complementing existing efforts to improve the quality of education in the county.

The DLP Phase II rollout is being implemented by the ICT Authority under the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project (KDEAP), with support from the World Bank.
The deployment of interactive panels and teacher laptops is expected to provide schools with additional tools for delivering lessons through digital content while enabling teachers to incorporate technology into classroom instruction.
The rollout also comes as the Government continues to expand digital infrastructure and skills in learning institutions, with the DLP serving as one of the key programmes aimed at preparing learners for an increasingly technology-driven economy.
The ICT Authority has continued to coordinate the implementation of digital government initiatives, including programmes aimed at expanding access to technology and strengthening digital capacity across the country.
The 16 schools in Kiambu Sub-County are expected to benefit from the newly installed equipment as the DLP Phase II rollout progresses to other learning institutions.
