APS Bomet FC loses to Shabana FC in FKF Premier League thriller

APS Bomet FC lost to Shabana FC 2-4 in an entertaining match at Gusii stadium on Sunday.

The Glamour Boys started the game with high intensity with Brian Michira opening the scoring in the 2nd minute of the game.

Shabana’s second goal came a few minutes later when Michira converted from the same spot in the 12th minute following a handball by one of the visitors inside the box.

The Kisii-based side extended their lead in the 19th minute, benefiting from an own goal by the South Rift side.

APS Bomet pulled a goal back after their goalkeeper Bob Cetric converted a penalty in the 36th minute, making it 3-1 at the end of the first half.

The second half was packed with action, with the visitors pulling another goal back through a brilliant Hansel Ochieng free kick to make it 3-2 late on.

However, Shabana had the final say after striking in stoppage time through Derrick Ochieng’ to secure victory and top the league table with three crucial points.

Speaking after the game, Shabana’s Head Coach Peter Okidi expressed his satisfaction with the win and attributed it to team effort.

“We conceded the second goal through a set piece and this is an area we need to work on because it has been a big challenge for the team, even during the last season,” Okidi added.

APS Bomet Head Coach Michael Nam praised his players for putting up a fight despite the defeat, adding that they would continue fighting to get the result they needed.
