Residents of Kikuskong and Tiriita villages in the Senetwo area of Songhor–Soba Ward on Monday witnessed a major boost in local water network after Tindiret Constituency MP aspirant, Walter Kipkemei, donated a fresh consignment of water pipes to help expand community access to clean water.
The donation, delivered during a small community gathering, is expected to support ongoing efforts to connect more homes to a reliable water supply — a persistent challenge in the area.
Speaking during the handover, Kipkemei said the project reflects his broader commitment to ensuring that no household in Tindiret is left behind when it comes to essential services. He emphasized that access to safe water is not a privilege but a right, noting that families should not have to walk long distances or rely on unsafe sources.
He added that strengthening village water systems would remain a priority in his development agenda.
Local residents praised the gesture, saying it comes at a time when many households face severe water shortages.
“This is something we have waited for for a long time,” said Mary Chebet, a resident of Tiriita. “Our children sometimes miss school because we spend hours looking for water. These pipes will really change things for us.”
Another resident, Samuel Too, expressed optimism that the improved pipeline network would reduce the health risks associated with using untreated water. “Clean water means fewer illnesses. We are grateful that someone is paying attention to our needs,” he said.
Community leaders also welcomed the initiative, urging continued collaboration between local leadership and residents as installations begin.
The distribution of the pipes marks one of the latest grassroots engagements by Kipkemei as he continues to outline his development plans ahead of the next general election. Residents in Kikuskong and Tiriita said they hope the initiative will translate into lasting improvements once the new connections are completed.
