Butere MP Tindi Mwale launches football tournament

Butere Member of Parliament Tindi Mwale has unveiled a football tournament aimed at identifying and developing emerging talent across the constituency.

The preliminary competitions will be held at Inaya Primary School grounds and finals at Bucheya grounds.

The tournament is set to kick off on Monday 8th and will run through to December 25, when the grand finale will be held.

Speaking during the launch on Thursday, Mwale said the event is designed to give young players a platform to showcase their abilities and pursue professional opportunities in the sport.

He underscored the importance of investing in the youth, noting that sports can play a key role in shaping a disciplined and united community.

“We are committed to discovering the hidden football talent in Butere by providing our youth with the guidance, mentorship and exposure they need to succeed not just in football, but in life,” he said.

The MP added that the tournament will open doors for aspiring players to be spotted by scouts and professional clubs.

Residents welcomed the initiative, saying it will keep young people engaged, promote discipline and strengthen community bonds.

“This is about building teamwork, discipline, and self-confidence among our youth. It is an investment in our future,” Mwale said.

The residents now look forward to an exciting month of competition, culminating in the crowning of the champions on Christmas Day.
