Celebrating agriculture climate smart milestone

The National SMACHS Foundation and Centre of Excellence Strategic Plan 2025-2030 were officially launched Thursday at the demonstrations garden and office headquarters in Karen Nairobi.

During the occasion, President Ruto’s daughter Charlene Chelangat, the CEO and founder SMACHS Foundation said the centre of excellence is a joint initiative between the SMACHS foundation and strategic partners.

Ms Ruto said the centre aims to inspire, train and empower communities through hands-on demonstration of climate smart agriculture.

The SMACHS foundation centre of excellence, she said, serves as a living classroom where innovation meets sustainability, integrating technology, learning and resilience. She added that the centre will also mentor young people to explore agri-business as a pathway to economic growth, food security and environmental care.

“From our seedling propagation and tree nursery units to the smart agritech and apiculture classrooms, this hub will nurture innovation, inspire sustainable practices, and equip communities with the skills and tools needed to thrive in a changing climate,” said Charlene.

The First daughter added that proceeds generated from the farm will be utilized to sustain the foundation’s operational capacity and ensure the continuity of the impact driven centre of excellence.

Alongside the launch, the SMACHS Centre of Excellence Strategic Plan 2025-2030 was unveiled which outlines the vision, priorities, and pathways for impact over the next five years.
