County government to cater for funeral expenses of Angata Barikoi

The county government of Narok will meet all the funeral expenses of six people who were shot dead in Angata Barikoi area, in an alleged land dispute incident.

The county government will also ensure the injured get proper and decent medication and cover all the medical bills.

The revelation was made by Governor Patrick Ntutu at the County headquarters today where he regretted that the long-standing land dispute could escalate to such a tragic outcome, particularly at a time when the land issue was nearing the resolution.

“The land issue between Angata and Moyoi adjudication sections have persisted for some time now. I initiated a process to resolve the land issue and for the last one and half years, I have personally led the process to resolve the matter,” said the governor.

High ranking security officials led by Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, his Deputy Eliud Lagat and the Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Amin Mohamed held a peace meeting in the area on Tuesday to restore peace.

Kanja promised that the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) were on the ground to investigate the police officers alleged to have committed the awful crime.

The police boss also announced the transfer of all senior police officers deployed in Angata Barikoi and promised that they will face the full force of the law if found guilty of shooting and killing innocent people.

Meanwhile, Governor Ntutu asked residents to volunteer in large numbers and welcome President William Ruto next week (From 6th to 8th May), when the people will be engaging the president in meaningful conversations on development projects.
