Over 150 young entrepreneurs from Trans Nzoia County are expected to undergo training on financial literacy.
The training is to be undertaken courtesy of a deal struck by the county government under the Nawiri Fund Programme and Britam Insurance Company.
Speaking after holding talks with Britam Insurance representatives at the county headquarters, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya said the training has come at the right time for the beneficiaries of the Nawiri kitty as it would go a long way in helping them expand their business ventures.
“About 150 young entrepreneurs from across the 25 wards in our county are going to benefit from the training. The 150 are among all those who benefited from the County government’s Nawiri Programme,” he explained.
The low-interest Nawiri Fund launched early 2024, has seen many youths, self-help and vulnerable groups benefit.
Besides funding, the County has in collaboration with partners-initiated training opportunities for the beneficiaries.
Nawiri Fund Board Chairman Martin Waliaula pledged to support the training exercise to fruition as he noted the positive impact of the Nawiri Fund, based on previous disbursements.
Also present during the meeting were Trans Nzoia County Secretary Truphosa Amere, Public Service Management Chief Officer Philip Kapten and Nawiri Fund board members.
