CS launches education infrastructure projects in Nyamira County

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has commissioned a multipurpose hall at St. Peter’s Nyaisa Secondary School and laid a foundation stone for the construction of an administration block at Kebirigo Primary School, both in West Mugirango Constituency, Nyamira County.

The CS confirmed that the allocation and prudent management of resources from the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) had made the two projects possible.

“I sincerely appreciate the cooperation between the school heads, Boards of Management (BoMs), and contractors who ensured that resources allocated for infrastructure development were prudently utilized to uplift education standards,” Ogamba said.

He added, “The government is working round the clock to improve education standards daily, aiming to produce graduates who are competitive in the international job market. This is why we are allocating more funds to hire additional teachers and ensure learners across the country have equal access to education at all levels.”

Ogamba also commended the support of NG-CDF and the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) patrons in improving school infrastructure, offering bursaries to needy students, and providing essential amenities such as sanitary towels to ensure girls stay in school.

NG-CDF Chief Executive Officer Yusuf Mbuno, who accompanied the CS, praised the fund’s impact on schools across the country.

“In these tough economic times, parents are struggling to raise school fees, let alone fund infrastructure. Since its inception, the NG-CDF has helped ease this burden by supporting the development and improvement of school facilities,” Mbuno said.

He encouraged residents to turn up in large numbers for upcoming public participation forums to decide the future of the NG-CDF, following a court declaration that deemed it unconstitutional.

NG-CDF Principal Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Caroline Mule congratulated West Mugirango MP Stephen Mogaka for his role in ensuring proper fund management. She pledged to monitor the Kebirigo Primary School administration block’s construction to ensure its completion within four months.

MP Mogaka thanked CS Ogamba for officiating the launch, praising his dedication to education.

“It is a great honor for you to come to West Mugirango and support initiatives aimed at improving education in our constituency. Your presence shows not just commitment to your work but also your passion for ensuring every child, even in remote areas, has equal access to quality education,” Mogaka said.

Among those in attendance were Nyamira Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi, Kitutu Chache North MP Japhet Nyakundi, local MCAs, NG-CDF board members, and education officials from Nyamira and Kisii Counties.
