The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested two suspects believed to be behind the killing of two boda boda operators during politically charged clashes in Kasipul Constituency, Homa Bay County.
The suspects, identified as Otis Ras and Pharaoh, were arrested in Oyugis town after weeks of evading police.
They are accused of killing Ben Ondiegi and Bruno Okindo, both aged 26, during violent confrontations between rival political supporters ahead of the recent by-elections.
The killings occurred on November 6, 2025 at Opondo Village in Nyalenda Sub-location, Central Kasipul Ward, where the victims were allegedly attacked with crude weapons, including machetes, in an incident that heightened fear and tension in the area.
Homa Bay County Police Commander Lawrence Koilem confirmed the arrests, saying the suspects were tracked down by DCI officers while hiding at a local pub.
“The duo had been causing anxiety among residents and disrupting public order,” he said.
Koilem noted that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be arraigned in court soon.
He also appealed to residents to assist security agencies with information that could lead to the arrest of other individuals involved in the violence.
The police commander assured the public that security agencies will carry out operations targeting gangs and politically linked goons to prevent further violence and restore calm in the constituency.
In a related development, police have arrested another suspect in connection with an incident involving the dumping of raw sewage at the gate of the Rachuonyo North Deputy County Commissioner’s residence.
