Dhado warns the youth that they risk driving the country into anarchy

Former Tana River Governor Hussein Dhado called on the youth to be wary of a few self-seeking political individuals out to drive the country into anarchy.

Dhado condemned the June 25th and yesterday’s demonstrations that led to loss of lives and property saying that the ‘planned peaceful demonstrations’ have been seized by the disgruntled politicians to cause mayhem and destruction in the country.

Addressing his supporters Tuesday in Madogo, Tana River County, Dhado singled out the Sabasaba commemoration that was agitating for multi-party democracy noting it had been hijacked by hired goons being used to loot and destroy property across the country.

Dhado who has declared his candidature for the Tana River gubernatorial seat in the 2027 general election said that president Ruto should be allowed to complete his term and those dissatisfied by his leadership should use the general elections to vote him out.

“Countries that degenerated into anarchy started the same way. Kenya belongs to all of us and we don’t have any other country. If we don’t safeguard it then rest assured nobody will come from outside to fix it the moment we burn it down,” Dhado said.

“Nobody should lie to you that the police are not allowed to use their firearms when they feel threatened. A police officer is allowed under our constitution to use his firearm to protect his and other citizens’ lives and property. As you engage in civil discourse, do it responsibly,” he added.

He said that Kenya has matured democratically with freedom of speech and expression being guaranteed under the current constitution but “we must do it responsibly.”

Dhado regretted that the neighbouring war-torn Somalia was destroyed by its own citizens in a similar fashion adding that Kenyans should not allow a few individuals to destroy the country.
