The County Executive Committee Member for the Department of Health and Sanitation Services, Dr Joseph Epem on Wednesday flagged off consignment of drugs to 229 health facilities in all the 11 sub-counties of Turkana.
This is a follow-up to the previous consignment delivered at Lodwar County Referral Hospital on May 5, 2025. The current consignment will last for three months.
“I am pleased to share with the residents that we have delivered our promise of ensuring drugs, non-pharmaceuticals and laboratory supplies to the 229 facilities in 11 sub-counties,” said Dr Joseph Epem.
Epem also assured residents that the distribution that began today will be completed within two weeks adding that the 10 lorries will deliver the drugs at the doorstep of every health facility.
The CECM highlighted that health committees and inspection teams will be at every facility to verify invoices and confirm the required commodities have been delivered.
Chief Officer for Preventive and Promotive Health Services, Janerose Tioko stated there will no longer be issues of drug delays as the next consignment has been scheduled to ensure smooth service delivery of health services.
Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) issued 79 percent order fill rate of the total required commodities worth Sh60 million. The department plans to make supplementary orders over the next few weeks.
