Events Managers in Embu town threw a party for children with special needs children at Kivote home, where they also gave donations of foodstuffs.
The group chairman, Peterson Kangugi, who led the eight members, said the purpose of the visit was to show love to the less fortunate members of the community, who missed out on the fun and pomp that characterized Valentine’s day.
He said the group has continually conducted similar activities as part of their corporate social responsibility through giving back to the community.
The association served a hot meal and goodies to the children. They also gave dry foods including rice, beans, maize and wheat flour.
Ahead of the visit, the association had repaired the children’s play equipment including swings, merry-go rounds and slides that had been broken down, all aimed at making the children’s home comfortable and friendly to the children.
The home that is located at Manyatta constituency in Embu has 12 children who attend St. Michael primary school in its neighborhood has varied disabilities including Autism, Cerebral palsy, while others are Amputees.
The center manager, Michael Njeru, said the center was established 10 years ago by the community as a rehabilitation center for handicapped children.
He further said the home, which is partly sponsored by the Catholic Church has many challenges and mostly they rely on well-wishers for supplies.
He thanked the event Managers for their act of mercy to the children.
