Pioneer Siaya County Assembly members want former Governor Cornel Rasanga Amoth to vie for the Siaya senate seat in the next General Elections, vowing to support him.
Led by former Yimbo West MCA, Elisha Okuku, the former MCAs who met under the Pioneer MCAs community-based organisation said that Rasanga played a key role in establishing a foundation for the county’s development and would be better placed to oversee devolution in the senate.
The former MCAs who met at a hotel in Gombe, on the outskirts of Siaya town called on both the county and national governments not to sideline them in development matters, adding that as leaders, there is a lot that they can do in regard to development.
They at the same time expressed a desire to meet President William Ruto to discuss development matters for the county.
In his speech, Rasanga who accepted the endorsement however said he will have to consult other stakeholders and interest groups before plunging into the race for the seat that is currently held by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader, Dr Oburu Oginga.
The former governor said he will remain active in politics and described the group as “God-ordained”.
