Fortune Sacco FC Cruise Past Darajani Gogo with 4–0 Victory

Kirinyaga-based Fortune Sacco FC produced one of their most convincing performances of the season, dismantling Darajani Gogo FC 4–0 in a National Super League (NSL) encounter played at Wang’uru International Stadium.

Fortune FC looking to consolidate a top-half position, while Darajani Gogo were desperate to escape the relegation zone made the match entertaining from the onset.

The home side showed greater urgency and composure, dictating possession and pressing high up the pitch.

Fortune’s early dominance paid off in the 25th minute when they were awarded a penalty after a clumsy challenge by the Darajani goalkeeper on a Fortune forward inside the box.

Collins Kirui calmly stepped up and slotted the ball past the keeper, handing the hosts the lead. This was the first penalty for the team in the season.

The host, managed by Vincent Nyaberi, intensified their attacking play, stretching the visitors’ defence and just eight minutes later, Victor Matete produced a moment of brilliance, spotting the goalkeeper off his line and unleashing a powerful strike from near the halfway line doubling Fortune’s advantage.

Despite attempts by the visitors to regroup, Fortune remained firmly in control, neutralising threats and maintaining their attacking momentum. The first half ended with the hosts enjoying a comfortable 2–0 lead.

After the break, Fortune FC returned to the pitch with even greater confidence, controlling the tempo and patiently building their attacks.

Their persistence paid off in the 57th minute when Jakob Karenoh capitalized on a well-worked move to score the third goal, effectively putting the game beyond Darajani Gogo’s reach.

Darajani Gogo, however, showed brief signs of resistance as they pushed forward in search of a consolation goal but Fortune goalkeeper Marvin Nderitu rose to the occasion, pulling off a crucial save that denied the visitors and preserved his side’s clean sheet.

Fortune’s attacking prowess was not yet done. In the 74th minute, Collins Kirui struck again, completing his brace with a composed finish that sealed a resounding 4–0 victory.

The match was not without its share of drama, as tempers flared late on, leading to an altercation between players. The referee intervened and issued red cards to one player from each side, restoring order before the game concluded.

The comprehensive victory sees Fortune Sacco FC climb to sixth position in the league standings with 42 points from 27 matches, strengthening their push for a strong finish this season. On the other hand, Darajani Gogo remain rooted in the relegation zone in 19th place with 24 points, leaving them with an uphill battle to secure survival in the remaining fixtures.

Fortune will take confidence from this dominant display as they visit Embu County for Majirani Derby against 3K FC on Saturday at Moi Stadium, Embu, while Darajani Gogo will host Kabati Fc in Nairobi.
