Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri has said the government is addressing the teething problems affecting the Social Health Authority (SHA) system.
The MP, who was speaking in Nyahururu at the populous Maina village, acknowledged that there exists some problem with SHA.
Kiunjuri also pointed out that the government would soon rollout a programme where one million elderly people and people with disabilities would be accessing medical services for free.
Commenting on provision of good services to the residents of Laikipia, the MP called upon Governor Joshua Irungu and area Senator John Kinyua to ensure there were better County roads and provision of water to residents.
The Laikipia East MP and his Laikipia West counterpart Wachira Karani praised the government for ending insecurity in the County.
Karani enumerated the projects implemented by the national government in Laikipia West and the number of students who have benefitted from the NG-CDF bursary fund.
Dabbling in politics, Kiunjri expressed joy for the residents of Nyahururu, which is said to be a stronghold of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for attending the meeting.
“Today we have silenced our opponents who believed we could not hold a meeting in Nyahururu,” Kiunjuri, who is also leader of TSP political party said after holding a meeting for about 4,000 people at the populous Maina village.
The Laikipia East MP who was accompanied by MP Karani distributed foodstuffs, mattresses, blankets and funds.
Maina village is one of the most politically restless areas of Laikipia County and most of meetings held there by leaders usually end up with chaos erupting.
The situation was different on Friday as they remained peaceful the entire day the MPs spent there.
