Government engaging public in feedback responses, Kiunjuri

Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri has assured Kenyans that the Kenya Kwanza government is continuously considering their feedbacks on various programmes meant to enhance their lives especially Social Health Authority (SHA) and University Funding.

Speaking at Magutuni in Tharaka Nithi County during an empowerment programme, Kiunjuri urged Kenyans to be patient as the government implements various recommendations from Kenyans for ease of service delivery.

“I want to assure Kenyans that we are actively listening to Kenyans on various programmes that we are implementing. I want to assure them that we will incorporate all of them in our plans to ensure that we serve you in the best way possible,” said Mr Kiunjuri.

He said some of the programmes the government was implementing were new but have life-changing effects and we are therefore facing teething problems which is normal.

He urged Kenyans to register for SHA in large numbers in order to enjoy convenient treatment at the time of need, and especially now that the government is in the process of making it affordable to Kenyans.

“Unlike previously when one was required to update SHA payments up to one year, the government has now reduced this to only four months and this means that many Kenyans will now afford it.”

“We are also in the process of identifying about 1.5million vulnerable Kenyans whose SHA bill will be paid by the government to allow them access healthcare services just like other Kenyans,” said Mr Kiunjuri.

On education, the MP said the government has also heard the cry from parents with University students on issues of fee payment and as a result, has done away with the issue of grouping the students in bands.

He said the learners will be required to pay between Sh5,000 and a maximum of Sh75,000 giving them great relief from the earlier arrangement. “Initially, High Education Loans Board (HELB) was grouping students in bands but we have realised it is a challenge to them. “We have now reviewed this and we will continue with more interventions to ensure education system is streamlined,” said Mr Kiunjuri.
