Governor Mbarire assures Manyatta constituents of development despite opposition links

Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire has assured Manyatta Constituency residents that development will not be hindered due to MP Gitonga Mukunji’s opposition affiliation.

She stated that she was elected to serve Embu County and would not neglect any area due to its political inclination.

“As the Governor of Embu, it is my responsibility to ensure that the people of Manyatta, who voted for me, receive their fair share of national government projects,” she said.

Speaking during an inspection tour, Governor Mbarire pledged fair and inclusive service delivery for the ongoing KWS-Mama Ngina Road upgrade in Embu Town, despite political differences.

She criticized MP Mukunji for fostering a divide and retrogressive politics in the constituency instead of focusing on the well-being of his constituents. “You go ahead and continue with opposition politics because that is the path you have chosen. For us, we will continue with the politics of development for the people of Manyatta,” she said.

She accused MP Mukunji of doublespeak, saying it was ironic for him to criticize the government while at the same time wanting to take credit for projects funded and implemented by the same government.

“Stop saying you are in opposition yet you are running to pose for photographs on the roads done by the national government claiming it is your initiative,” she remarked.

KURA Director General Engineer Silas Kinoti who accompanied the governor said the national government had set aside Sh123 million for tarmacking of roads in major towns across the county.
