Governor Nassir reshuffles his county government cabinet

A popular local actor, Kenneth Ambani has been dropped as Youth, Gender and Sports Executive following changes announced by the Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir.

In Executive Order No. 9, Nassir, in his first changes since taking office in September 2022, replaced Ambani with Jonathan Wepukhulu.

At the same time, Nassir also nominated Ibrahim Khamis as County Executive for Blue Economy, Co-operatives, Agriculture and Livestock, replacing Kibibi Abdalla, who has been moved to the Environment and Water portfolio, which was previously held by the Deputy Governor Francis Thoya.

Thoya has been assigned to oversee flagship project coordination and delivery, supervising key administrative priorities across all departments.

Both Wepukhulu and Khamis require County Assembly approval before assuming their new responsibilities.

“These changes are in line with our commitment to an efficient and responsive county government that meets the needs of our people,” the governor said in the order.

Speaking to Kenya News Agency in Mombasa, Khamis thanked Governor Nassir for the nomination and confidence in his ability and pledged to serve the residents of Mombasa with dedication and loyalty in his crucial docket.
