Governor Njuki commissions Kangutu bridge, pledges more roads, water, and health services

Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure, health, and water services across the county, saying no ward would be left behind in the development agenda.

Speaking on Wednesday during the commissioning of the newly constructed Kangutu Bridge which links Mariani and Karingani wards, Governor Njuki said the project would ease movement and open up the agriculturally rich areas to markets, boosting trade and food security.

“I am committed to improving transportation across our county by enhancing linkages through the construction of roads and bridges. Every corner of Tharaka Nithi will benefit,” he said.

He further announced that the Kathigiririni–Kangutu road would be tarmacked to ensure an all-weather link between villages and major towns.

On water development, Njuki pledged a government boost to the Manyanga Water Project under the Kenya Devolution Support Programme (KDSP), noting that it was one of the oldest schemes in Chuka/Igambang’ombe constituency.

He urged residents to use the water for irrigation to enhance food production and create wealth.

The County boss also highlighted strides in healthcare, revealing that Kaanwa Hospital has been upgraded and its maternity wing would be officially opened in December.

He added that an ambulance would be stationed at the facility to ensure patients with complications could be quickly referred to Chuka County Referral Hospital.

“Good health is important. That is why no one should be denied treatment at public health facilities. If you are a member of SHA (Social Health Authority), dispensary and health centre services are free of charge,” he assured residents.

Njuki also pointed to completed road projects such as the Chuka–Kareeni stretch, which he said was finalized within three years, as evidence of the county government’s commitment to infrastructure growth.

He urged residents to support the government’s development agenda, stressing that partnership between leaders and citizens would accelerate progress.
