KNA journalist scoops prestigious award

Anita Omwenga (right) of Kenya News Agency (KNA) receives an award from Dr Gladwell Gathecha, Head, Division of Cancer and NCDs in the Ministry of Health after being crowned the winner in the Food Systems (Agriculture, Policy and Safety) Category. Omwenga’s story ‘Agroecology in Muranga improves diets, fights chronic diseases fueled the conversation on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and its intersection with equity, access and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).

The December 16, 2025 event themed “Shaping Health Narratives: Celebrating Excellence in Reporting on NCDs and Unhealthy Diets” was organized by the Non- Communicable Diseases Alliance Kenya Media Awards. It aimed at feting journalists who are pivotal in driving public dialogue and influencing health policies. The event was graced by Dr Mary Nyamongo, Chair NCD Alliance Kenya Board.

 

 

 

 

 

Journalists drawn from Print, Radio, Television, digital platforms and blogs feted at the 2025 Non-Communicable Diseases Alliance Kenya Media Awards. The December 16, 2025 dinner event themed “Shaping Health Narratives: Celebrating Excellence in Reporting on NCDs and Unhealthy Diets” was organized by the Non-Communicable Diseases Alliance Kenya Media Awards. It aimed at feting journalists who are pivotal in driving public dialogue and influencing health policies. The event was graced by Dr Mary Nyamongo, Chair NCD Alliance Kenya Board attracted 250 entries.
