Homa Bay County Commissioner (CC) Ronald Mwiwawi has expressed concern over rising cases of fraudulent land transactions in the County.
The Administrator urged residents to follow the right channels in succession and land issues to curb conflicts.
Speaking yesterday during a Jukwaa la Usalama Forum at Kabunde Social Hall in Homa Bay town, Mwiwawi cautioned Chiefs against meddling in land transactions, noting that all such processes must go through the Land Control Boards.
He said that the parties to land sales, should never use Chiefs to draw sales agreements.
“It is disturbing that this County is experiencing a spike in cases of multiple sales of the same parcels of land to different buyers, causing conflicts,” Mwiwawi regretted.
The CC cautioned public servants against engaging in corrupt practices. “The public should also avoid the culture of visiting offices for services with corrupt mind by carrying ‘envelopes’ for the purpose,” he added.
The County Commissioner told contractors awarded tenders, to ensure that public projects were completed in time and up to the standard as specified.
“The relevant bodies must be vigilant on development projects to curb shoddy workmanship, the members of the public should also be keen,” he said.
Homa Bay ‘Bunge la Wananchi’ speaker, Walter Opiyo expressed concerns that the midweek memorial service for the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in Homa Bay Stadium created disturbance for form four exam candidates.
“The organizers of the noisy event did a great disservice to the candidates and all similar ceremonies should not be allowed in future during exam time,” Opiyo said.
