Hundreds turn up for KDF recruitment in Nyahururu

Hundreds of youths turned up at the Nyahururu Stadium for the ongoing Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruitment exercise taking place across the country.

Senior Recruiting Officer Lt. Col. David Awuonda said the large turnout reflected the strong desire among young people to serve in the defence forces. He noted that most of the participants were Form Four leavers, with only a few graduates, attributing the lower number of graduates to the ongoing online application process for specialized cadres such as cadets.

Lt. Col. Awuonda emphasized that the recruitment process is free, fair, and transparent. He noted that although there have been past reports of malpractice, KDF has heightened vigilance to ensure integrity throughout the exercise.

Reiterating that KDF upholds a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption, Awuonda warned recruits against falling prey to fraudsters promising backdoor admission. He urged Kenyans to report anyone posing as a recruitment agent so that appropriate action can be taken by authorities.

He further explained that the recruitment is conducted based on existing vacancies within the organization and that KDF provides equal opportunities for both men and women.

Lt. Col. Awuonda encouraged eligible youths to maintain discipline and patience during the recruitment period, emphasizing that merit and integrity remain the guiding principles of the exercise.
