IEBC launches enhanced continuous voter registration in Wajir

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has launched the enhanced continuous voter registration exercise in Wajir County, calling on eligible residents to register in large numbers.

Speaking yesterday during the launch at the IEBC County Headquarters in Wajir, County Election Manager Abdi Bashir Alinur said the exercise officially commenced yesterday, March 30, 2026, and will run for 30 days, ending on April 28, 2026.

He said the exercise is being conducted under the theme “Deepening democracy in Kenya through inclusive voter registration,” noting that it aims to increase voter participation across the county.

Abdi said Wajir County has six constituencies and 30 wards, with a total of 252 clerks deployed to facilitate the process at the field level.

“We have also deployed voter registration assistants in every ward to supervise the clerks, supported by a constituency ICT clerk in each constituency,” he said.

He added that the Commission has set registration targets for the county, which have been shared with registration officers and assistant registration officers to guide the exercise.

The County Election Manager noted that voter registration will be conducted across designated centres, including Wajir Huduma Centre.

He urged all eligible residents to take part in the exercise, emphasizing the importance of voter registration in strengthening democratic processes.

“The Commission calls upon all eligible residents of Wajir County to turn up in large numbers and register as voters. Your participation is vital in strengthening democracy and ensuring inclusive representation,” he said.

Abdi further stated that applicants will be required to present either a valid national identity card or a Kenyan passport to be registered as voters.
