Leaders from different parts of the country have called on residents of the Mount Kenya East region to support the government’s development agenda, citing ongoing investments in infrastructure, housing, electricity connectivity, and public service delivery.
Speaking during a church service at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Meru and later at Mukothima Seventh Day Adventist Church, Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programs, Cabinet Secretary, Geoffrey Ruku, said the Kenya Kwanza administration has initiated key projects aimed at improving the livelihoods of Kenyans and accelerating economic growth.
Ruku said continuity in leadership would enable the government to complete ongoing development programmes and implement additional projects that are expected to benefit communities across the country.
He highlighted initiatives such as affordable housing, road construction, electricity expansion, and employment creation, noting that residents should support leaders who prioritize development and service delivery.
The Cabinet Secretary urged grassroots leaders and residents to focus on issues that directly impact citizens, including access to infrastructure, economic opportunities, and improved public services.
Tharaka-Nithi Woman Representative, Susan Ngugi, echoed the sentiments, saying the region should embrace leaders who champion development and national unity.
He noted that the government’s programmes have the potential to transform livelihoods through improved infrastructure and economic empowerment initiatives.
She emphasized the need for residents to support projects aimed at enhancing economic growth, creating jobs, and improving access to essential services.
Nominated MP Dorothy Muthoni said continued investment in roads, electricity, and other public infrastructure would stimulate local economies and improve the quality of life for residents.
She urged wananchi to work closely with government agencies to ensure that development projects are successfully implemented and completed on schedule.
Taveta MP, John Mbwire, said national development should remain the primary focus of leaders, adding that collaboration between national and county governments is essential for the successful implementation of key projects.
He said sustained support for development programmes would help address socio-economic challenges and create opportunities for future generations.
