I’ll empower people economically, Dhadho

Governor Dhadho Godhana has vowed to prioritize the economic development of the Tana River people as he waits for his swearing-in following his re-election.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place next week Thursday 25th August 2022 in Hola, Galole Constituency.

Governor Godhana defeated 13 candidates in the hotly contested gubernatorial position.  He garnered 26,892 votes defeating his nemesis former CAS Interior and the first governor Hussein Dado with just 259 votes.

Hussein polled 26,633 votes and has vowed to challenge the election in court after he disputed the outcome.

Both Galole and Garsen MPs were elected on the ODM party ticket.

“My re-election is a call to change the lives of our people. It’s been a remarkable and historic victory for ODM in Tana. Today we come with a few numbers which mean the party in terms of elective positions are moving forward,’’ said Godhana at his official residence in Hola.

“It’s a mandate for economic growth and development, I have learned many things as governor, I have learned from my mistakes as well as the good things. You have entrusted me with the office. I will work with other political leaders to move the county forward,” he said.

On his part, Galole MP Said Hiribae defended his seat and promised to work with all the residents regardless of their political affiliation.

“I want to tell the people of Galole those who voted for me and those who did not vote for me and all those whom we have competed against, this victory is not mine alone, it is Galole’s victory,’’ said the MP.

The MP’s re-election was largely due to his education program through the CDF bursaries. For all secondary school students studying within Galole, their fees are catered for by CDF.

He has promised to extend the program to students from the constituency who are studying outside the constituency and to continue with his water program by ensuring every village has access to water.
