Jubilee leaders endorse Matiang’i for 2027 presidency

Leaders of the Jubilee Party have declared their support for former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i as the party’s presidential candidate in the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during the launch of the party’s Kisii County office at Nyangena area in Kitutu Chache South Constituency on Friday, Secretary General Richard Ole Kenta said the party had unanimously endorsed Dr. Matiang’i for the top seat, citing his distinguished record in public service.

“The entire country is rallying behind Matiang’i because of his proven track record while serving in the Security, Education and ICT dockets,” said Kenta.

He described the former CS as a dedicated and results-oriented leader who demonstrated commitment and discipline in the various ministries he headed. Kenta called for intensified grassroots mobilization ahead of next year’s polls, urging party supporters to strengthen Jubilee structures across the county and beyond.

He also challenged women and youth to actively participate in party activities, noting that their involvement will be critical in shaping the party’s success in the upcoming elections.

Jubilee National Chairman Vincent Kemosi urged residents, especially young people, to register as voters in large numbers to influence the outcome of the 2027 contest.

“I want to assure aspirants in Jubilee that nobody has been issued with a ticket except for the presidential candidate. We will conduct free and fair nominations to give everyone an equal opportunity,” Kemosi said.

Jubilee Deputy Secretary General Zack Kinuthia echoed the call for unity within the party and reaffirmed the leadership’s commitment to transparent nominations.

“As the Mount Kenya region, we have resolved that Matiang’i will be the president of the United Opposition, and as the Kisii region, you must ensure that you elect Jubilee candidates to strengthen the party at the national level,” he added.

The declaration in Kisii came ahead of a planned three-day tour of the Gusii region by leaders allied to the United Opposition, set to begin on Monday.
