By J, KNA

Kakamega Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda has commended members of Busombi Mumbo FM Community-Based Organisation (CBO) in Matungu Constituency for their commitment to self-reliance and grassroots development.

Muhanda who attended a fundraiser organised by the group on Sunday evening, lauded their progress over the past two years, noting that they had managed to acquire land, plant sugarcane, purchase dairy cows, and put up basic infrastructure to sustain their operations.

“This is a true example of community-driven development. I am especially proud of the strides Busombi Mumbo FM has made in a short span of time,” she said.

The Woman Representative made her contribution towards the fundraiser and pledged continued support to the CBO as it works to expand its projects.

She said her office would continue to prioritise empowerment of grassroots organizations, which she described as the engine of sustainable development in the county.

“Under my leadership, I will champion the growth of CBOs across Kakamega, equipping them with the tools and resources they need to become financially independent—just as Busombi Mumbo FM is striving to be,” she told residents.

She said strong community-based organizations are key to tackling unemployment and poverty at the grassroots.
