Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination kicked off smoothly Monday morning across the six Sub-Counties of Nandi County.
There were no reported cases of delays despite continued heavy rains experienced across the County.
Examination collection centres in Sub- Counties of Nandi Central, Nandi North, Nandi East, Tinderet and Chesumei were busy with exam officials led by school principals who ensured papers reached exam centres safely and on time.
Heavy rains experienced across the region have put Nandi County Disaster Management Committee on high alert especially in areas prone to landslides, and specifically Tinderet Sub- County.
While speaking to the press during the exam opening at County Administrative Headquarters in Kapsabet Nandi Central Deputy County Commissioner Alfet Jilo said there was also no exam disruption reported last week during Kenya Primary Education Assessment and Kenya Junior School Education Assessment though heavy rain was experienced.
Jilo said National Government Administration Officers are working closely with the County Disaster Management Committee to monitor the situation for emergency response when need arose.
She said all 29 examination centres in Nandi Central Sub-County received their Monday exam papers on time.
According to the Deputy CC, requisite security measures had been put in place and with full instructions on the exam process.
“Our team ensured all Monday exam materials reached exam centres on time with centre managers ensuring a smooth exercise,” Jilo said.
Nandi County Director for Education Harrison Muriuki confirmed that a total of 27,272 candidates are sitting for KCSE exams in the County.
A total of 28,600 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and 24,600 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) candidates just concluded their exam in Nandi County.
